Funerals

Funerals

‘I am the resurrection and the life,’ says the Lord. ‘Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.’ (John 11:25-26)

These are the words of Jesus, and they remind us that the Christian faith gives us the hope that there is a God who made us, who loves us, who has good plans for us, and who gives us eternal life. This means that the love of God is the strongest force in the universe, even stronger than death itself.

At a Christian funeral service, we remember the life of our loved one and treasure our memories of them, we give thanks to God for their life, we comfort one another in our grief, and we receive hope from the Christian Gospel that our loved one is safe in the arms of our loving God.

Revd David Cattle and Mr Travers Harpur both lead funeral services, and would be honoured to conduct the funeral service of those who are residents of the Parish of Galleywood, or who have a connection with the Parish or St Michael’s Church. We can conduct a funeral service at Church, followed by a burial in our churchyard or another graveyard, or a Committal at a crematorium. We can also conduct whole funerals services in a crematorium. We can also bury your loved one’s ashes in our churchyard or another cemetery.

If you would like us to conduct a funeral service, please tell the Funeral Director, who will be happy to arrange this for you. And if you would like us to bury your loved one’s ashes, you can come to us either through a Funeral Director or directly.

For any enquiries, please contact Revd David Cattle on vicar@stmichaelsgalleywood.org.uk.
