Looking outwards
For most of it's history, St Michael's Church has been involved in Mission.
When the church was first build in 1870, its location was chosen to minister to the Galleywood racecource, to counter the 'evils' of gambling - this was a long time before it became the parish church for Galleywood.
Currently we are active in our support for many acrtivities in Galleywood, Chelmsford, UK and Internationally, helping to fulfill Jesus' Great Commission (Matthew Chapter 28: verses 16 to 20)

These are exciting times to be a Christian and there is much to celebrate amongst the churches and Christian organisations working throughout our community.
Our aim is to be a visible sign of local Christians commitment to one another, as an expression of Jesus' prayer 'that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you: may they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.' John 17:21
We believe we are called to be salt and light to our city and therefore are "transformed people, transforming Chelmsford."
This includes our corporate mission to share the Good News of Jesus Christ as widely as possible, to act as a voice for Christians in the city of Chelmsford, and to foster unity amongst the various churches and Christian organisations in the area (a fuller list of our formal objectives can be seen by clicking the link to our constitution).
The Steering Committee is made upon Christians from many different Christians streams including, but not exclusively, Anglican, Baptist, Pentecostal and Charismatic churches.
CTiC is part of Churches Together in Britain and Ireland.

Made for More (formerly SYM) is dedicated to providing a highly professional service which supports students and schools. We aim to help schools provide a broad, rich curriculum especially in the areas of social, physical, emotional and spiritual health.
Our staff (who are all enhanced DBS checked) are committed to planning, delivering and evaluating a range of activities which are ‘tailor made’ to suit the individual needs of each school and indeed each group of students. We work in close partnership with school staff to ensure that what we deliver meets the school’s requirements and has a positive, measurable impact on the students.
The work is overseen by a management board comprising experienced teachers, headteachers, local clergy and businesspeople, whose role is to ensure that the services delivered meet the highest possible professional standards.
Our services are free to schools as we are financially supported by 25 churches and over 200 donors, both charities and individuals. We are a Christian organisation and we will always present from that point of view, but we do respect the views of those of all faiths and those of none.
They have just launched their new Empowered Course, a six week course for young people designed to equip young people with tools to help them as they navigate through teenage years and beyond.

We live in a world where too many people don’t engage with the Bible.
In some parts of the world, the Scriptures are difficult to access or are simply unavailable. In this country, the Bible is readily available but has lost its significance and its value is unrecognised by millions.
We’re working hard here at home and in key areas across the world to change this. We take the Bible and find ways to translate and distribute it, create digital formats, advocate for its place in society and help people relate to and make sense of it in their everyday lives.
All our efforts are driven by one conviction: we believe that when people engage with the Bible, lives can change – for good.
For over 200 years Bible Society has been working to bring the Bible to life; to help people around the world engage with it, relate to it, and make sense of it.
That single mission drives a huge range of activities. In some parts of the world, bringing the Bible to life focuses on translation and distribution projects. Elsewhere it focuses on leadership training, or literacy programmes, or interfaith dialogue. Closer to home, in England and Wales, it focuses on advocacy effort, schools outreach and devotional resources.
We’re doing everything we can to help individuals and communities to engage with the Bible because we believe that when they do, lives can change – for good.

CPAS is an Anglican evangelical mission agency working with churches, mainly in the UK and Republic of Ireland
Our mission is to enable churches to help every person hear and discover the good news of Jesus Christ. To read more about how we do this through the development of leadership in churches, click on the link above.
We are committed to mission and equipping churches for their God-given task of evangelism. We believe the most strategic way for us to help churches become more mission-focused is by developing effective leadership.
We long to see a Christ-centred, Bible-based, mission-focused Church where leaders are clear about their call to discipleship, growing in Christ-like character, and competent to lead in a time of rapid change;
- Making disciples of young people and developing leadership potential through Ventures and Falcons.
- Resourcing churches in developing missional leaders.
- Developing key local church leaders for mission.
- Taking a national lead in furthering missional leadership through our patronage work.

Crosslinks is an evangelical Anglican missionary society, drawing its support mainly from parishes in the Church of England and Church of Ireland. It was known as the Bible Churchmen's Missionary Society (BCMS) until 1992. The BCMS was created as the result of a conservative split from the Church Missionary Society. The Crosslinks name emphasises the society's principle that Mission is from everywhere to everywhere. The name also helps to make possible work in some of the 60 or so countries where Bible, Church and Missionary are not acceptable.

The non-sectarian China Inland Mission was founded on principles of faith and prayer. From the beginning it recruited missionaries from the working class as well as single women, which was a new practice for a large agency at the time. The original goal of the mission that began dedicated to China has grown to include bringing the Gospel to the millions of inhabitants of East Asia who have never heard or had access to the message of Jesus Christ. Following the departure of all foreign workers in the early 1950s, the China Inland Mission redirected all of its missionaries to other parts of East Asia. The name was officially changed to Overseas Missionary Fellowship in 1964, and then to the current name in the 1990s.

IMJP (formerly CWI) is a UK-based interdenominational evangelistic society committed to sharing the Good News of Jesus the Messiah with the Jewish people. Like the apostle Paul, we reason from the Hebrew Scriptures to demonstrate and prove that the Messiah must suffer and rise from the dead and that Jesus is the Messiah, the Saviour of the world promised through the ancient Jewish prophets. They are currently working in 9 countries as well as the UK.

1000 Hills Community Helpers is a non-profit organization in South Africa devoted to improving the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS.
The organization was first established in 1989 by Dawn Leppan and Alan Paton, originally as a program to feed those in poverty and suffering from the effects of HIV/AIDS. After seeing the overwhelming amount of people in need, it was concluded that something more would need to be done, thus founding 1000 Hills Community Helpers.
The Community is located in KwaZulu-Natal, east of the city of Pietermaritzburg almost to the Indian ocean just north of the coastal city of Durban. It consists of a health and wellness clinic, children's infirmary, feeding scheme, and education and development facility. The clinic is open five days a week, dedicating different days to the elderly, children, open clinic days, and counselling groups for those who need support.
Contact at St Michael’s is through Caroline Speed who took a group of young people to visit and work with the project in Summer 2016
