Benches in the Churchyard

Benches in the churchyard

It might be possible to put a memorial bench with a plaque in the churchyard, depending on space and location. This needs special legal permission (called a “Faculty”), and statutory fees are payable. The exact location of any memorial bench is at the discretion of the Vicar.

Any benches placed in the churchyard must be paid for by the person placing the bench, and the bench remains the property of that person. Caring for the bench is their responsibility (although the Church might occasionally commission work to care for benches in the churchyard).

Please do not place a bench in the churchyard without permission, as this is illegal. Please don’t put the Church in the position of needing to ask you to remove a bench.

Please contact the Sexton (sexton@stmichaelsgalleywood.org.uk) for information.
